Oh India.
Got on a scale yesterday and realized I’ve lost 11 pounds. Most of it came off in the last week due to illness. Feeling better now.
Computers don’t like my card reader. So pictures will have to wait…..
I may need a vacation from my vacation.
Pictures not possible at this time. When I come home, I have surrendered to the fact that my English will be broken. If you love me, you won’t hassle me too hard on this fact.
The heat is a beast. It’s killed my appetite and has given me nausea. The Taj was stunning. The symmetry of it is incredible.
It’s becoming trying on my mind, heart, body and soul constantly dealing with...
Reflections after nearly 3 weeks
So. As Emerald so often says, “You love me for what you condemn me for.” I’m beginning to feel like this statement fully conveys me feelings toward India. I love the people for their hospitality, but you can NEVER fully trust anyone here. I love how freely this country gives her culture, people, traditions, and knowledge to me. But at the same time, she wants ALL of me in return....
Tilt your head.
because no matter what I do, pictures still keep posting in the wrong direction =[ Nevertheless, I’m still going to keep posting highlight photos.
I've fallen in love.
With Manali. The views are spectacular, the people a mellow, it’s cool and beautiful. I may never leave (oh if only). The interent here is fast and the computer works brilliantly. Prepare for photomania!
Depite my best efforts...
…even though I rotate the pictures before I load them they still uploading incorrectly. Damn. Oh well. Schmeh. I’ll try an re-do it all once I get back to the states. In the mean time, turn your head. =]
Rolling with the punches...
Indian computers are janky-ass dinosaurs! The one I’m using won’t read my memory card but it read Emerald’s SO the only pictures I can put up now are a few of her highlights.
Anyway…
Once we got to Jalgaon, we found out that our train out departed at 10 pm Monday. That gave us a little time to see the Ellora caves, which I liked better than Ajanta. At both places we...
I would never challenge an Indian to a staring...
I wouldn’t. They are to damned practiced at it. I still don’t know how the rickshaw drivers manage to stare straight at us and not cause a 5 car pile up. Anyway, we leave on our bus tonight at 8. Get to Jalgaon tomorrow. Ajanta caves! Back to Mumbai at 6:30 Monday morning. Then Mumbai to Amritsar in 30+ hours. Should be up there by 7:15 on Tuesday if all goes as planned. I probably...
We took a short sit at the Black Bay.
And we finally arrived. First reactions at the airport. Nearly rear-ended a bus on the way to the hostel. Seat belts in cars here are simply for decoration. Slept moderately well. The hostel we’re staying at is really hospitable. Today’s goal- figure out how to get to Ajanta and how to haul ass to the North cheaply…
We left on a Jumbo Jet! 15 hours spent on this thing…
Leaving on a Jet Plane....
Waiting in the Library. Hoping to catch a shower by 1:30, get some food in my belly, then catching the MAX to the Airport. Today:PDX->LAX. Tomorrow: LAX->Mumbai. It’s finally here. Woah. Not sure when I’ll have a computer next but hopefully I’ll be able to stay on top of things.
I’m excited to see my family tonight/tomorrow morning. It’s been awhile.
